Nap mat

Some recent activities

YCP aka MDO:
Last Friday I surprised him with a roll-up nap mat. His eyes lit up:
What it it?
A Bed!
A bed?
A bed giong (like) friends. Friend co (have), Lincoln khong co (don't have).

Aw, he must've felt left out because he didn't have a nap mat like the other kids. He has been sleeping in his toddler pillow and (favorite) Winnie the Pooh blanket. Tomorrow will be his first day with it! (He stayed home because of a fever Tuesday.)

LLAMA DRAMA
We read "Llama, Llama Red Pajama" yesterday and so both last night and tonight he's been wailing (like baby Llama) for Mama at bedtime. It's 11:52 and I think he just fell asleep half an hour ago- even tho I tucked him in at 9:30.

Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?

Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?

In my younger days, I modeled for charity caledars, art exhibits, magazine ads, just to be the subject in someone building a portfolio... Then I started scrapbooking- working with photographs after they were taken and developed. Like many, when we had our firstborn we went from the little camera you can fit in your pocket for clubbing to a big full blown Japanese-tourist-style D SLR. Still, I took him to the chain photography studios for pictures and more recently, started to hire custom photographers. Well, Lincoln is 2 and almost 8 months now, and with baby Carter, I'd like to learn how to get better everyday pictures out of my Nikon, and maybe even get some photo-journalistic ones in along the way.

Quoc's friend Viet is stepping into the professional realm and posted this link on his blog. I like.

20 months along- we're halfway there!

Baby's doing flips in the belly and we get to find out the sex next Friday! Quoc is taking Th and F off. Our tentative plan: W- 7 PM mass and confessions TH- Katy Mills to pick up Lincoln's backpack (we forgot it at Motherhood last time), 7PM Kaitlyn's recital Fri- noon- ultrasound, lunch at Cheescake Factory, dinner at St. John Vianney Sat- 3:30 Toy Story on Ice Sun- Tran family dinner at our place We went to the Children's Festival this afternoon, 2nd year in a row w/ Lang and the kids. Calvin had a sword that Lincoln waned but we had already passed up that booth so Quoc found a long abllon on the ground and ta-da! Lincoln gets a makeshift sword. Enjoyes a turkey leg, lemondae, an ice cream cone, and lemon-ice. Saw Dora and Diego on stage. Lincoln loved it! It was a HOT afternoon! When we got back to the car, I put Lincoln in a new pull-up and no shorts for the ride home. Yeah, he pooped and somehow most of it ended up on the OUTside of his diaper, ofcourse my little boy had to reach down and show us on his fingers. Nasty. We pulled over for a temporary fix. As soon as we got home i put him back on the potty and he tinkled all over my leg and seat, but I was able to hold his member down for the rest of the flow. Sigh, boys. Quoc and Lincoln are napping now and so I'm working on pictures and updates.

Lincoln's going to be a big brother!

We found out the day my Harvard application was due. I was so excited, I said I was going to cry, but then Lincoln got scared and I had to keep it together. He broke the news to Ba Ngoai and later to Ong Ngoai by answering "Baby dda^u?" with "trong bung. Mommy" and pointing to my belly. :) At first when I asked he kept saying, "Mommy be^' Lincoln."

Lincoln was sent home sick today

Monday
Per Ms. Miesha, she didn't have to remind him to go to his chair, he just sat quietly all morning, didn't eat much for lunch except for corn and all his milk. Then after he woke up from naptime, he was red. She held him and could feel the heat from his body. His temperature read 100.7. 15 minutes later she checked again and it was 101.2 so she took off his socks and shoes.

When I came to pick him up they were outside. Lincoln was in Ms. Miesha's arms w/o shoes. He looked so country! poor thing. I gave him some children's Advil, bathed him, and hung out with him while he played quietly in his room. He kept hugging Barney and singing along. very cute!

He was interested in my chicken salad sandwich from Chickfile and ate about 1/4. He also had some rice. For dinner he liked the fettucine alfredo.

We didn't want him to have to sleep upstairs so he got to open another birthday present: the Toy Story tent from Bac Hien. He loved loved loved it, sing-songing the characters' names. Woody, Buzz, Jessie! He's fast asleep in it now- in the living room where I am.

Lincoln stories from the weekend:
- Friday at pick up Ms. Miesha said that they had cupcakes for Kaitlyn's party today and the cupcakse were so big, every on emade a mess, but not Lincoln. He kept clean and looked at her and said about the others: "Ohmygosh!" As if!
- Saturday morning, on my birthday, I came out to see him eating his oatmeal breakfast and said, "Wow!" He replied, "Lincoln an gioi vay!" (Lincoln's eating so well!) and I repeated after him and he said, "I know."
- Sunday- As the car stopped in front of the church, he retroflected and said, "Cha, con, thanh-than, Amen". And then later when it was time to sing Happy Birthday to me (after a prime rib dinner with the girls at home) he sang along perfectly, even singing to Mommy (not Lincoln). I was smitten!
